Becoming a McNair Scholar

My journey to becoming a McNair scholar began during the spring semester of my sophomore year. After receiving an email with information in regards to the program, I decided to schedule a meeting with the director to learn more about the opportunity. I decided this program was exactly what I needed to discover my passion throughout the end of my undergraduate life and the start of my graduate school life. Being a student in the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, it was uncommon for me to hear about research opportunities, which is why I was interested in the program. Although I never participated in conducting research, I decided I would submit an application anyway and hopefully begin a new challenge. I was later welcomed into the McNair family by Dr.Kelly Wonder and Dr.Ka Vang, filling me with excitement and enthusiasm to strive in becoming the best version of myself. This new challenge is an opportunity to be exposed to new strategies like conducting research, exposure to learning about continuing my education past the Bachelor's degree and having a mentor to help me when I need it. Becoming a Ronald E McNair scholar was the best decision I made for myself.
